An orifice shape-based reduced order model of patient-specific mitral valve regurgitation

چکیده

Mitral valve regurgitation (MR) is one of the most prevalent valvular heart diseases. Its quantitative assessment challenging but crucial for treatment decisions. Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), we developed a reduced order model (ROM) describing relationship between MR flow rates, transvalvular pressure differences, and size shape regurgitant orifice. Due to its low cost, this ROM could easily be implemented into clinical workflows support MR. We reconstructed mitral valves 43 patients from 3D transesophageal echocardiographic images estimated anatomic orifice areas using shrink-wrap algorithm. The shapes were quantified with three dimensionless parameters. Steady-state CFD simulations in performed analyse geometry hemodynamics. Based on results, ROMs increasing complexity defined, all which revealed very good agreement results mean bias below 3% rate. Classifying orifices two groups assigning group-specific coefficients limit predicting volumes 9.0 ml 5.7 at volume 57 ml.

Congenital Double-Orifice Mitral Valve with Mitral Regurgitation due to Flail Leaflet in an Elderly Patient

We report here on a case of double-orifice mitral valve with mitral regurgitation in a 75-year-old female who had complaints of mild dyspnea. Transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography showed two orifices that were supplied by their own chordae from a different papillary muscle. Color Doppler echocardiography revealed moderate to severe mitral regurgitation due to the flail posterior le...

Severe mitral regurgitation in a woman with a double orifice mitral valve.

A 64 year old woman with partial atrioventricular canal and double orifice mitral valve presented with severe mitral regurgitation secondary to a torn leaflet. The double orifice regurgitant mitral valve is an unusual finding at operation.

An alternative isovelocity surface model for quantitation of effective regurgitant orifice area in mitral regurgitation with an elongated orifice application to functional mitral regurgitation.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to develop and test a simple, clinically practical alternative isovelocity surface (ISVS) model for calculating effective regurgitant orifice area (EROA) in mitral regurgitation (MR) when the regurgitant orifice is elongated, such as in functional MR. BACKGROUND Clinical experience and 3-dimensional imaging suggest that the traditional hemispheric ISVS...

Bioprosthetic Mitral Valve Regurgitation

The usefulness of two-dimensional color-Doppler flow-imaging (2D Doppler) in the detection, localization, and quantitation of bioprosthetic mitral valve regurgitation is uncertain. Mitral bioprostheses, before and after the creation of transvalvular (n = 33), paravalvular (n = 17), or combined (n = 23) defects, were mounted in a pulsed duplication system (flow rates, 2.5-6.5 1/min; pulse rate, ...

Floppy Mitral Valve, Mitral Valve Prolapse, and Mitral Valvular Regurgitation.

It is well recognized that the floppy mitral valve (FMV) complex is the central issue in the FMV, mitral valve prolapse (MVP), and mitral valvular regurgitation (MVR) story. MVP associated with the FMV results from the systolic movement of portions or segments of the FMV complex into the left atrium (LA). Prolapse of the FMV results in unique forms of mitral valvular dysfunction and MVR. When t...
